Who We Are

HTLC is a close-knit community, intent on providing a welcoming, joyful space to gather and celebrate our faith.

We believe that everyone has been given a place at the table.

At Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, we are dedicated to following the guidelines laid out by the ELCA, and our mission to be a church where everyday people become everyday disciples, serving our Lord.

At Holy Trinity, we believe:

  • People are received into a community of grace where they are invited to receive the forgiveness of sins and the gift of a new and abundant life in Christ Jesus.
  • That God finds us in our darkness, our pain, our emptiness, our loneliness, and our weakness.
  • In our baptismal waters, we are grafted into Christ, becoming a part of Jesus’ story.
  • All are welcomed to heal from the brokenness of life and are given an opportunity to grow as children of God.
  • Here people are summoned to grow in their faith as followers of Lord Jesus in the marks of discipleship.
  • Families are embraced and supported as they nurture Christian faith in their children.
  • Everyone is invited to discover their spiritual gifts and use them to serve our Lord both within the congregation and within the community.
  • We answer our Lord’s call to go forth into the world as his witnesses and servants so that all may know the love of God in Christ Jesus.
  • We believe that Holy Communion is an ongoing gift for everyone, and all are welcome to share in the meal of thanksgiving.

Our Story:

The Congregation of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Sidney, NE, was organized on May 13, 1886. The original church was built in 1888 on the corner of 10th and Linden. Currently, the Episcopal Church resides there.

In July of 1955, the ground was broken for the church that we currently call home on the corner of San Marino and Lodgepole Road.

In 2005, the Trinity Center addition was completed. The expansion also brought much-needed updates, such as an elevator and inclusive use restrooms.

In 1986, Holy Trinity celebrated its 100th anniversary, and we then celebrated our 125th anniversary in 2011.

Since our beginning, our church has changed and grown, but one value has held fast throughout the decades:

There is always room at the table to share in a meal to get connected.

We continue to prioritize youth and adult education, and come together to break bread during the week. The talents and expertise of our congregation are utilized and celebrated in many ways, including Praise Band, Young at Heart, and Women’s Bible Study.

We know that God is on the move, and inviting us to come along. We’re so thankful to be able to help extend that invitation, and plan to do so for years to come.
